MARPOSS Monitoring Solutions GmbH develops, manufactures and markets systems for tool-, process- and machine condition monitoring, which are used in all production areas involving metal machining. ARTIS was founded in 1983 and is based on Egestorf, approximately 45 km south of Hamburg, Germany. With a staff of about 60 employees, the ARTIS group achieved a turnover of more than € 9 million in 2012. The job of ARTIS systems is to optimize production processes to achieve quality assurance and cost reduction.

Role in the project

Main activity in this project is to provide reliable, cutting edge solutions for process monitoring and data capturing at shop-floor level. CNC sensors and external sensors will be used to retrieve process data from the both Phillips and JLR demonstration cases. This data will be transformed into knowledge about the tool wear state, both for cold forming (long term) and for metal cutting (short term).

To this, MMS will thus lead the design of the complex demonstrators specifications the work realted to the development of the tools and techniques for self-configuration and self-adaption. Also, ARTIS will undertakes the Innovation & Exploitation Management of the project.
